DESCRIPTION:Join the Oro Valley Historical Society as we hear from Roger Nichols\, Board member\, and Professor Emeritus at the University of Arizona\, who will share his collection of American Indians cartoons gathered over 30 years. His belief\, that they are the only ethnic minority in our society that shows up regularly in cartoons because of public stereotypes\, will be on display.  Coverage ranges from the Norse forays into North America more than a thousand years ago to NASA’s current space explorations.  The lecture promises to be both enlightening and entertaining.  The presentation is free with donations gratefully accepted to keep Oro Valley history alive!

Tubac originally emerged as a village of the Sobaipuri and is the site of the oldest European settlement in what is now the state of Arizona\, founded in 1752. \nLook into this experience in this video. \nDivided into four themes\, the itinerary includes a background & interpretation of Tubac’s: \nA. DESCRIPTION:Join the Oro Valley Historical Society at historic Steam Pump Ranch to see the collection of archives\, documents\, photos\, and possessions from our area dating back hundreds of years.  Tours of the Pusch House Museum are self-guided\, and we have volunteers on site to answer questions and provide additional information. \nToday our naturalist will lead one hour gentle guided tours of the Ranch to share stories about the people\, plants\, geography and animals of our area.  The tours begin at the Museum at 9:15 and 10:30 a.m.  No reservations are required. \nThe Sonoran Plein Air Painters will also be at the Ranch today capturing on canvas the beauty and history that is available.  Stop by and chat with these artists as they create their masterpieces from our magnificent surroundings!

DESCRIPTION:At our monthly (fourth Saturday) Archaeology Day\, representatives of Tucson’s archaeology community come to Mission Garden to teach practical hands-on skills. Archaeology Southwest will be doing their Hands-on Archaeology program. It allows kids of all ages to try out fascinating ancient technologies. Old Pueblo Archaeology Center is represented at these events\, also presenting interactive programs about things like pinch pots\, pendants\, and cordage. John Palacio speaks about and demonstrates making replicas of petroglyphs. Come join in any time between 8am and 11am.
