Heliograph: Frontier Arizona’s Communication by Sunlight

September 23 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Free
Join the Oro Valley Historical Society as we hear from retired CIA Intelligence Analyst, Lee Krsiean, an Oro Valley neighbor, talk about early communication way before texting!  The presentation is free, and donations to the Oro Valley Historical Society are most welcome.
Communication across long distance using reflected light signals, probably was used by pre-Columbian natives in Arizona.  During the 1880s in Arizona, United States Army soldiers used high-quality light reflecting heliographs for communication and security for early settlers.
