DESCRIPTION:Join the Oro Valley Historical Society to see Southwest Arizona history in the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch on Oracle Road.  Self-guided tours of the Museum are free\, and donations are gratefully accepted to keep Oro Valley history alive! \nFrom 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. you can also enjoy a day working with volunteers of the Oro Valley Historical Society in our Heritage Garden along with volunteers affiliated with United Way Day of Caring.  You’ll be able to replicate the native people that came before us as we water\, plant seeds\, pick vegetables\, prepare new garden beds\, dig holes for new trees or irrigation lines\, design an area to replicate corn grinding and seed sorting\, spread wood chips\, prepare new garden beds.  So much to do! \nSign up for this fun event.  We thank you for supporting both United Way and the Oro Valley Historical Society. \nSee history in the Museum and what will be the future in the garden!

DESCRIPTION:Arizona State Museum is partnering with the Smithsonian to offer a unique and engaging professional development workshop that demonstrates the application of the Harvard Project Zero’s Look-Listen-Connect teaching strategy to engage students with content. Teachers will learn about and examine corridos and blues music traditions\, look at an ASM collection object and corrido to think about the Mexican nationalist movement of the early 1900s and symbols of identity\, hear a corrido performance by Jesus Garcia and Dena Cowan\, and write a song. Includes dinner. DESCRIPTION:This is a private walking tour of Tubac. Tubac originally emerged as a village of the Sobaipuri and is the site of the oldest European settlement in what is now the state of Arizona\, founded in 1752. \nLook into this experience in this video. \nDivided into four themes\, the itinerary includes a background & interpretation of Tubac’s: \nA. Geography\n(i.) Santa Cruz Valley and River\n(ii.) Upper Sonoran Desert natural landscape overview\n(iii.) Local mountain range identification \nB. Native American and Spanish colonial history\n(i.) DESCRIPTION:At our monthly (fourth Saturday) Archaeology Day\, representatives of Tucson’s archaeology community come to Mission Garden to teach practical hands-on skills. Archaeology Southwest will be doing their Hands-on Archaeology program. It allows kids of all ages to try out fascinating ancient technologies. Old Pueblo Archaeology Center is represented at these events\, also presenting interactive programs about things like pinch pots\, pendants\, and cordage. John Palacio speaks about and demonstrates making replicas of petroglyphs. Come join in any time between 8am and 11am.

DESCRIPTION:Well\, it might be – the Oro Valley Historical Society has had two investigations by the Tucson Paranormal Society and certainly felt breezes\, saw artifacts move\, and communicated with spirits. But today\, we want to welcome you to the Pusch House Museum to see artifacts from our collection. Self-guided tours are complimentary\, and donations are gratefully accepted to help us keep Oro Valley history alive. With the Ranch being occupied since the late 1800’s\, there are bound to be spirits roaming the grounds\, and we are sure they would be pleased with what the Town and the Society have done with the place!
