DESCRIPTION:This two-mile walking tour is led by Mauro Trejo and focuses on our relationship with the Santa Cruz River\, how it supported Tucson’s early residents\, and the factors in the 19th and 20th century that affected its demise. \nThe tour begins at Tucson’s Mission Gardens and includes the sites of the former Spanish mission and the O’odham village that was the origin of our modern city. Attendees also visit Tucson’s tallest tree and the Garden of Gethsemane\, a holy site of statues made by WWI veteran and artist Felix Lucero in the 1940s.

SUMMARY:America Semiquincentennial and the Town of Oro Valley
DESCRIPTION:The Oro Valley Historical Society’s year‑long tribute to the America Semiquincentennial moves into its final phase for the season. Stop by the Pusch House Museum at historic Steam Pump Ranch to view America Semiquincentennial and the Town of Oro Valley\, an exhibit connecting the nation’s founding challenges with Arizona’s and Oro Valley’s own. Our naturalist will be on-site providing two one-hour gentle walking tours around the Ranch culminating in our Heritage Garden where visitors will be able to see a replica of a Tohono O’odham pit house and the plants that our growing in our garden this season. Volunteers will be available in the Museum for questions\, and complimentary tours are offered with grateful acceptance of donations.
