Heritage Foods

The Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance was thrilled to partner with the University of Arizona's Southwest Center for the 2008  launch of Sabores Sin Fronteras/Flavors Without Borders, a new borderlands alliance created to document, celebrate and revitalize the farming, ranching, foraging and food folkways of the bi-national Southwest.

The Sabores team includes authors, farmers, ranchers, chefs, food-writers, educators, non-profits, and more!

Sabores is loosely modeled after the Southern Foodways Alliance and its Cornbread Nation publications out of Oxford, Mississippi.  The goal of Sabores is to bring together people of all walks of life who celebrate and work to preserve our local foods and foodways traditions.

The Sabores Sin Fronteras concept emerged out of a Winter 2008 retreat sponsored by the Southwest Center of the University of Arizona.
